The insane sound came first. I almost knocked my water off the nightstand trying to hit the snooze button. It was 3am and it felt like I had just gone to bed.
I dragged myself out of that cozy nest, gulped down 2 cups of tea, threw on my comfortable clothes, grabbed my bag of essentials and hit the dark road. It would take me 45 minutes to get to the early opening (5:45) of the flea market.
My goal on this particular early Sunday was to find vintage furniture for the shop. If you happen to be a dealer looking for furniture on a muddy field, you know this is not an easy task.
I was walking up and down the rows at a brisk pace, scanning the various dealers for any sign of the furniture when a spotlight shone down on what looked like the perfect bench. I picked up the pace and beelined for this beauty!
Just as I put my hand down on the arm of the bench, I noticed that another hand was on the other end of MY bench. A fellow dealer had laid claim to the bench at the exact moment I had!!! We instinctively looked up at each other and knew the situation could have been a bad one but thankfully we were of the same mind.
It was then that we agree to do a coin toss. Heads, I lost. Within minutes the bench was no longer "mine". I may have lost the bench but I gained a friend and also the confirmation that moments like these can be solved in a poised and good-natured way. If you have any experience in a muddy field at 6am with a bunch of antique dealers, you know it can be a dog eat dog world out there.

Our fall finds are in, give us a visit. We are here everyday from 11am to 5pm.
